Dressage at Devon 2018 Announces Dressage with the Experts Line-Up

Devon, PA – Ever wonder what the judges are really thinking? How they came up with the scores? Dressage with the Experts gives you the inside track.
An over-ear style personal receiver allows spectators to follow all the commentary of some of the foremost experts in the world of dressage. For $35 (pre-ordered) or $40 on the day of the show, the digital FM radio receivers can be used anywhere on the show grounds (Friday, Saturday and Sunday only) to listen to the experts describe the riders movements and learn exactly why the judges give the scores they do. More info or pre-purchase can be found at https://dressageatdevon.org/index.php/spectators/dressage-with-the-experts.
This year, the expert line-up includes:
Kem Barbosa
Kem Barbosa is a USEF ‘S’ Judge from Princeton, New Jersey. She is on the road a lot, judging approximately 25 recognized shows a year in the US, Brazil, and South America. “I judge what I see at that given moment, converting the image into a numerical value and a comment. If you take it move by move, the class places itself. It’s a huge responsibility because you are evaluating a persons work, the quality of the horse, and giving direction to the sport.” Kem is an equestrian author frequently featured in Dressage Today. On her off time, she competes her Belgian warmblood Passe Partout at Third Level.
Debbie Bowman
Debbie was selected as an alternate for the 1984 Olympic Games and won a team gold medal at the North American Championships in 1985. She was short-listed for the 1986 World Championships, now called the World Equestrian Games. She was the first American licensed German FN Bereiter while apprenticing with Karin Schlüter, and earned her license to compete through S level.
Since 1991 she has served as Examiner of the USDF Instructor Certification Program. She was appointed Chair of the USDF Junior and Young Rider Program for two years (1995-1997) and also completed the USDF “L” Judges Program with distinction in 1998. For more than thirty years, Debbie has consistently produced top level horses and riders, coaching many riders up to the Grand Prix level and FEI Junior/Young Riders. She continues to dedicate herself to developing the next generation of knowledgeable, sensitive, and educated riders and trainers, who will carry on the traditions of classical dressage.
Lisa Schmidt
Lisa is a USEF ‘S’ Dressage Judge and a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Gold, Silver and Bronze medalist. A former USDF Region One Director, Lisa has been a coach for the 2015 US National Dressage Pony Champion, the 2017 US National Children’s Champion, the 2017 NAJYRC Junior Team Bronze and Silver medalist, and the 2016 NAJYRC Junior Team Bronze and Silver medalist.
